Description

This is one of the end pieces for a new series that I'm created for my Senior Thesis. I used as a starting point for my imagery the ancient philosophy of Anamnesis as well as Kohlberg's Stages of Moral Development.

Here is the series

is my Artist Statement for the show that pretty much sums up what I was doing.

For my thesis, I created a number of digital pieces that composite photography and digital drawings. The black and white imagery, high contrasts, and heavy textures are primarily used to add drama and tone. They characterize my own tastes in beauty that I wanted to share through these pieces so that if viewers choose to ignore the narrative, they might appreciate the images on a purely aesthetic level.
Inspired by the ancient Greek philosophy of Anamnesis and the psychological studies of Lawrence Kohlberg, I formed a narrative that explores human development and the authority figures that are experienced throughout life. While the series was developed off of explicit ideas, each piece is filled with a number of visual allusions that could be interpreted in a variety of ways. Once described purely through imagery, I invite individuals to ascribe their own understanding of the series. It represents my first exploration into the inclusion of either philosophical or psychological ideas across a series of pieces. Through this process, I am developing my ability to add intellectual depth to my ideas and the content of my work

Right not, I don’t think I see myself as much of a Gallery artist, but it was definitely interesting working on this.

this is very accurate, at birth the mind, like the picture is fractured,we can only put it together with the knowledge we gather as we age and the personal perception on how it should or shouldnt be used.

nice. =)
